Our Mission

Knowledge, Expertise, Transparency

Rebuilding Functionality and Trust

We have lost 300,000 dedicated public servants in the last 2 years. Hard-won experience and expertise walked out the door, and key roles have gone unstaffed. Civil servants do the key work that keeps our government running. Our leaders need to hear directly from them to understand what worked, what didn’t work, and what could be rebuilt to be more effective and efficient. At the same time, the American public has lost trust in government; and most Americans do not have sufficient opportunities to understand who does government work, how it affects their lives, and how important it is to have that work done by experienced, civic-minded, and qualified experts.

US Capital Cherry Blossoms

Callimachus seeks to address both through collecting the operational expertise, lived experiences, and suggestions of the experts who did the work. And our technology will make it possible for decision-makers and the public to have access to their perspectives in an easy and accessible way: Callimachus.

AI Use Policy

Powerful Tools with a Person-Centered Focus

AI is an incredibly powerful tool. We know that perceptions of AI and its effects on society can lead to hesitation, questions, and fear. We share these feelings, and we share your concern. Simultaneously, AI opens up new possibilities in how we aggregate, access, manage, and store knowledge, creating new pathways for decision-makers to hear directly from people in a way that minimizes information overload.

We believe in using AI in a way that takes advantage of its potential within a maximally ethical framework. We are hard at work drafting an Ethical AI Use Policy (“AI Policy”) with input from AI ethics experts, our board, and our interviewees. Our current use, and our future AI Policy, will line up with the ethical use framework outlined in Civic AI’s 6-Pack of Care. In short, our use of AI will prioritize transparency, listening, human experience, and community benefit. We are committed to listening to the concerns of our users and interviewees, understanding the responsibility that comes with using such powerful tools, being transparent about how we use them, and ensuring that our product is designed and used with the goal of providing a benefit to the American public and the federal employees who serve them.

Let's save our civil service expertise for brighter days ahead and a new generation of leadership.
